Bodum includes user-friendly directions for filling the bottom compartment with water, the cone-shaped filter with fine coffee grounds, and what sound to listen for when steam has forced its way through the grounds and left the aromatic brew in the upper chamber. A safety valve regulates the steam pressure.

This is the smaller of two sizes of stovetop espresso maker by Bodum, measuring 7-1/2 inches tall and 3-3/8 inches in diameter at the base. The 12-ounce capacity pours approximately one large mug or a two smaller cups of coffee. After use, the espresso maker can be unscrewed and every piece placed in the dishwasher or quickly washed by hand. Allow to dry completely before reassembling.
